Sworn Sword
Common throughout The Kingdom of Somercrag, the term 'sworn sword' refers to a Knight who has sworn their service to the defense of another individual, most often young men and women who have been sent to court, but also seen accompanying Lords and Ladies, heirs, or even other knights. Technically, there is nothing preventing a knight from swearing their sword even to the lowest of the smallfolk, though they could hardly blame their charge if such a position failed to win them the glory their service might otherwise expect.
In a sense, the The Kingsguard of Tyon I Cray is an organisation of several Sworn Swords. Their charter is derived from the traditional expectations, rights and responsibilities of Sworn Swords throughout Somercrag's history, and is likely to form a template for such relationships in the future.
