Session 17: Let's commit genocide! Report

General Summary

Our heroes continue clearing the below decks.  Unfortunately, Rowdy was careless when entering the room at the end of the hall.  He and Spile did not think about how the crushed bones and spatters of blood became.  They found out with a bang!  Pummeled to the floor under a 20'x20 plate of steel.  Rowdy took the brunt of it, while Spile only got his legs crushed.  The stairs they had climbed up on tilted and became a slide down into a 50' pit with poisoned spikes.  Jhoren rescued WD and he sailed down the pit. He and Maya jumped back in time and missed the trap.  In the end, it appeared the traps were probably meant to keep people safe from the locked up mishappen and unstable Sphere of Annihilation. 
Spile trapped the sphere in a room by calling up stones from the floor and entombed it.  Maya thought it would make a nice addition to her dragon's hoard.  Jhoren wrestled with the idea of trying to use the artifact.  Could he control it?
Continuing to clear the rooms, they unleashed a 25 ft tall demon ape with ram horns and hooves.  Working close together, they hack the giant beast down under the direction of Sir WD.  He nearly hacked its right leg off with two massive swings of Victamcue.  No mortal could have stood against those blows. But, this was a demonic titan, a battering ram made of flesh, bone, blood, and fur!  Still, as it thrashed its death cries, it tore into Maya.
Where the heck was Jhoren?  They followed an open door at the back of the gargantuan lair and WD comes across a large beetle.  Feeling haunted by the scarab beetle that nearly devoured his heart, WD hacks the giant beetle in two.  In a moment, Jhoren lies bloody in the place of the beetle.  Polymorphed by an assailant in the room above them.  
The LoO climb up to the room and confront the half human-demon and fight.  This guy packed a hell of a punch, WD parried its onslaught from its wicked long sword but was too slow to block its kick, which crushed in his breastplate and sent him flying across the room like a rag doll.  Jhoren soon charms him and they get a tour of the area, the guest quarters for visitors.  They find out Straoth is a Balor, and is the CMDR of Demonwing.  They kill Thikill, the charmed half-demon, and find a scroll showing the location of an item called the Demonglass in the Canyon of Insects.
