Session 21: The key to the tower Report

General Summary

The Lords of the Overwatch patch up after annihilating the balor, Straoth. The bone devil tempts several of the party with favors, but they turn down his advances. WD finds an unholy sacristy and defaces it. A demonic chimera shimmers into form and breathes acid and a petrification gas upon them. WD teams up with Jhoren and they slow the beast and tear it asunder.   They make their way to the tower of Straoth and teleport inside. Vahakin/Jhoren leaves Thrasymachus behind and they enter the bed-chamber of Straoth, on the ceiling is a door to the deck. A book is found chronicling the history of Demonwing, being written as they read it. It mentions the actions of the party up till the very moment. After a short deliberation, WD and Rowdy decide to abandon looking for Demonglass and exit above deck. They sail through the fourth level of hell, Phlegethos and recall some history about the plane. The home of the Lake of Fire, where the original deity "the nameless one" cast out the fallen angels before he was destroyed by Asmodeus and the revolting angels. In his fall, he created Corellon and Grumsh with his tears, and from them, all the deities were born.

WD told the party everything he could recall about the fifth layer of hell as they sailed through a sea of glaciers. A black sky with blue/green lighting shooting through the sky knocks down winged creatures at regular intervals. Often a bolt strikes a 10-30 thousand foot tall mountain/glacier and bluish/white flames burst upwards. A great city, Tantlin, lies at its center, once ruled by Geryon, a fallen angel. WD told of a female pit fiend who ruled the city afterward but was frozen and broken into hundreds of shards by powerful devils and outside travelers. Those shards are being traded as currency, even today. The city is known for making books, scrolls and paper documents, and contracts. It is a destination for many planar travelers. After several hours of sailing after a long rest, the ship stops, Charon the boatman appears and points to the shore. A gangplank of force appears and the party exits Demonwing with WD holding out a compass, pointing towards the Sword of Kaz.
