Session 27: The final leg. Report

General Summary

The Lords of Overwatch finally entered the Chapel of St Cuthbert. They were immediately attacked by statues of St Cuthbert's mother and father. Rising from a pool of lava in the adjacent main Chapel, a pit fiend threw a ball of lava at the party but it struck the wall of force, splattering all over the wall. The pit fiend laughed and sunk back into the lava. While fighting the constructs, the wall of force was disintegrated by captain Spile, no longer separating them from the main Chapel. Captain Spile conjured a ball of water, trapped the statues in it, and with the help of Jhoren, threw it into the pool of lava. The pit fiends then assaulted the party with balls of lava. Sir Wolf Dietrich found and rescued 4 captives hanging from a cage over the lava pit as the pit fiends began their assault. Hurriedly, he escorted them into an adjoining room for safety, unfortunately, one of them had already died.
in the new room, a new devil was defiling a fountain of holy water. Sir Dietrich and Maya attacked the devil. Rowdy piper then joined and in moments they killed the devil. Meanwhile, captain Spile reversed gravity over most of the lava pit sending it rising to the ceiling. The two pit fiends made their way out of the lava, one of them went to the side room to attack the party, killing a newly rescued acolyte in the process. He was slain by Sir Wolf Deitrich. The other one chased Jhoren around the lava pit while captain Spile kept himself out of sight. After flying a few circles around the floating lava pit, the pit fiend grew tired of the chase and summoned in another devil. Jhoren immediately bound it in magical chains. During the fray, captain Spile found a secret door leading to another chamber. A fallen Angel was in that chamber disguised as a huge spider with an illusion. It followed him back into the Chapel as he fled.
