Lion-General of Exum
The Lion-General of Exum is the champion of the empire and is often looked at as it's a most skilled warrior, outside of the Four Pillars of Heaven. They have a seat on the emperor's Council and is the General of the Empire's standing army, the Imperial Ten Thousand. They are often called the Fifth Pillar due to their rank being on par with the Four Pillars.
Appointment
After service in the Imperial Ten Thousand and the retirement or death of the previous Lion-General, the nominee is brought up before the Four Pillars and voted on. There have been instances where the incumbent has been appointed on the recommendation by the previous Lion-General.
Responsibilities
The Lion-General overseas the day-to-day operations of the Imperial Ten Thousand, the organization and manning of the caravansaries, garrisons, and Cold Palaces, and the planning, briefing, and execution of orders and movements of the Imperial Train.
Benefits
Upon death, a large amount of money is paid to the immediate family usually in scale with time served.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
A Lion General can be removed for so much as a failure of a campaign of failure to secure the Imperial Family. The recommendation is brought up by the Emperor and the Four Pillars will then deliberate on if the Lion General shall be retired or executed depending on the circumstance.

Creation
Makonnen, the Unifier created the rank of Lion as his champion, but through time when all of the tribal and clan chiefs followed suit, the Emperor decided to make his Lion, Lion General of all of Exum.
