Road of Warriors

The Road of Warriors is one of the Three Noble Roads, along with the Road of Scholars and the Road of Kings. This religious rite is taken by warriors all over Exum. This road has a certain guideline for how those who take this rite should live. The Road of Warrior ethos is all about defense. Defense of family, defense of tribe, defense of cheiftaincy, and defense of country. Those that don't follow the ethos are said to be on the Road of Outlaws and only those who have achieved the rank of Lion are allowed to be judge, jury, and executioner, and execute them on site.

Execution

The initiated on the Road travel to the capital of their regional Pillar. Once there, they're names are written down in the Book of Warriors and they swear to the Pillar to live the rest of their life as an honorable warrior, to defend their family, tribe, chieftaincy and country from all that may rise up against them unjustly. Their name is then written down into the Book of Warriors and they are allowed to pass through Gate of the Spear and Shield.   An initiate of the Road of Warriors have no rank until they get their first taste of combat, be it a military campaign in unit warfare or in one-on-one combat. After they've seen and survived their first taste of combat, initiates are then promoted to Sentry, then Spear, and then SheildBearer, which is mostly saved to the most senior warrior that also assists in training junior Road Brothers.

Warrior-Errant

If one wishes to dedicate themselves to the Road of Warriors they can become a Priest of the Road. Priests of the Road have many specializations, but many embody the Philosophy of the Sword and Spear and teach it to others. They are designated by all of the Four Pillars to preside over the Rites of others. Some preform essential task for the nobility when it comes to war fighting.

Tribal Warrior

Tribal warrirors can return to their family and continue life, but will be called to fight at the behest of either their grand chief, Pillar or Emperor.

Imperial Warrior

An Imperial Warrior is a member of the Imperial Ten Thousand and will either march with the Imperial Train or serve their time stationed at one of the imperial caravansaries or one of the Cold Palaces around the continent. Imperial Warriors are looked at as one of the quickest and hardest ways to be raised to the rank of Lion.

Solid article, interesting rite for a people to have. I would like to see some quotes, like a statement from an outsider or even an insider on how the rite is viewed.

Thanks for reading and commenting! Quotes do sound like something that would be interesting to see on this entry. I’ll work on that thanks!

Is "cheiftaincy" a word? I had no idea!   Also, "SheildBearer" should be shieldbearer, I assume. Beyond those nitpics, it is a solid article. Quotes would indeed be nice, maybe some piece of the oaths they swear?

Very interesting. Were you inspired by medieval chivalry by chance? Some more information on how promotion up the ranks is decided would be interesting.

Firstly thank you for reading and commenting. Yes I was very much inspired by medieval chivalry! I’ve always loved knights and such, but Africa, where the main country in my world is somewhat based off of, doesn’t have such a history with knights. So this is just me imagining a world where that was happening.
