Animate Inanimate

Sentience is nothing remarkable. In fact, I even plan to have a wand that makes things sentient. (Within certain limits, mostly just adds a face to eligible objects, with limited dialog.) Not only is there a problem with displaced sentient home furnishings and tea sets, but one of the wizards of the island is expected to be a hoarder.   These are not the well-maintained, posh sort of cursed inanimates, but the damaged, malformed, disagreeable sort that would end up in a hoarder's home. Or in a magic thrift store, next to a well-used roll of duct tape. I think for these NPCs to read well as characters, and to play well in game, each cursed item will need to have one clear gimmick. Ideally a funny and/or tragic one. I love the judgemental mirror. The eyes and position of face really sell it. I see what you were up to with the face on the candle, and it is clever up close... but from a distance, that is just a bit too hard to track visually.   Most animate inanimates are tools (e.g. farming and janitorial work), or Sentient Weapons . However, a vocal minority of skeletons are animate inanimates.   Many inanimates identify with the Resistentialist movement, which is aligned toward the Summer Court against the Winter Court in Lugubria.
