Personal history
Pierce began working for the Civil Tribune four years ago, but he was doing freelance writing for a few years prior to that. Seven years ago, in 1900, he wrote a smear article for a tabloid implicating Declan McGrath, the father of Charlotte "Charlie" McGrath and Edward "Eddy" McGrath in an alleged affair with Natalie Blanc, owner of The Delicate Touch brothel in Red Lamp. The article was false, but written as a means for Pierce to pay for his tuition at Briarbank College.
In recent months, Pierce has been experiencing visions of horrible creatures and phenomona, some of which he as unknowingly written in a few of his articles. This drew the attention of Candela Obscura, who reached out to him and suggested a partnership. Pierce now primarily writes fluff pieces for The Civil Tribune while he uses most of his time investigating various phenomena with The Circle of Chaos & Ash.

Pierce and Cy met while they were both in school together, and shared some classes. Approximately seven years ago, they each went their separate ways as Cy focused more and more of his attention on his archeology studes and Pierce went in the direction of journalism. Pierce considers Cy an old friend, but Cy has honestly forgotten that he had even gone to school with Pierce until they met again when they formed the Circle of Chaos & Ash.
History
Pierce has done business with the McGrath family in the past, where they have opened doors for him during the course of his personal investigations, and he has written a few articles on the good work they do in South Soffit. However, seven years ago, Pierce wrote a smear article on Declan McGrath, Charlie's father, which nearly tore her family apart. She now bears a deep resentment and hatred towards him, and she is secretly plotting her revenge.
History
Arthur Hurley acted as a mentor to Pierce while he was in school. Between the end of The Last Great War and now, Pierce came upon classified information that named Arthur as one of the scientists involved in the technology used in The Electric Event. Pierce, wanting to keep his mentor and friend out of any potential harm's way, has kept the secret to himself and hidden the evidence so that Arthur can remain anonymous with regards to that incident.
