Republic of Hathrun
The formation of the Republic was formed in blood. Vanguard of Honor Draven Draconis, in an act of open defiance against the emperor and the Haukri Dento, declared that the great houses should be able to govern themselves. Allied with House Atlas, House Aquila, and House Leonis , he led a rebellion from the Hathrun empire in the year 1185 S.J. After a four year period of open rebellion known as the Honor's Reckoning, a ceasefire was agreed upon between the 5 houses that remained in the empire. The conflict technically never ended and the Silverstream River remains a tense border between the two nations.
Government
The great houses within the Republic are relatively independent and function very similarly to the empire. The main difference is that any imperial authority is instead given to the main decision-making body in the Republic known as the Council of Nine. Each Duke elects three councilors to send to the Council and represent their House in the greater affairs of the Republic.
