Grand Duchy of Thecedor

The Grand Duchy of Thecedor is an expansionist kingdom which controls a sizeable portion of Fron Aberaelwyd. It borders the Macavurian Principalities and Brontbran, both of which are much weaker nations militarily than Thecedor. Thecedor, a militaristic state, is eager to expand both northwards and to the south, aiming to take parts of Brontbran's coastline and Macavuria's arable land. Thecedor is the most populous state in Fron Aberaelwyd and has more natural resources, waterways, etc. than any other nation it neighbors. This predisposed advantage has allowed the kingdom to impose itself over other nearby nations, slowly leading to territorial expansion.    Generally, Thecedor, while being a militaristic and imperialistic nation, is viewed as one of the more liberal monarchies in the eastern hemisphere. Tudori living in Thecedor are given full autonomy as well as the option to integrate into Thecedorian society. Feudal lords have more autonomy than in other monarchies and, generally, the monarchy itself has less centralized power. While the monarchy is hereditary, the position of king holds more weight in the control of the nation's military than the government and legal code. This model is somewhat based off of that of Auchnavar, a kingdom which has held close ties with Thecedor due to longstanding alliances and familial ties between the Heres and Arbosas dynasties. Thecedor, having recently defeated the Macavurian Principalities in war, now turns its eyes towards the south, vying for the control of major ports which Brontbran controls.    Thecedor is a strange nation in terms of its geography and economy. It relies heavily on a self-sustaining system in which agricultural needs are met without the need for trade, allowing for a greater number of artisans to focus on working with forging tools, designing weapons, or planning infrastructure rather than be forced into trade guilds. Despite the expansion of the nation both territorially and economically, the population has remained largely stagnant in terms of growth, allowing agricultural needs to remain somewhat stable when accounting for population increases from territorial acquisitions. Thecedor's population lives throughout the western stretches of the nation, but many people live in communities around the Haldari Lake, a massive body of water in the center of the kingdom said to have been formed from the wellspring's magic. Recreation and fishing are the lake's most popular uses, though a floating mage college does exist near the eastern edge of the lake. In addition, wide ravines and strange rock formations cover the eastern countryside of Thecedor.
