Pantfelin

Pantfelin is a minor kingdom in the southeast of Fron Aberaelwyd which borders Brontbran alone. Pantfelin and Brontbran, both nations with majority populations of Marceans, are close allies geopolitically, aiming to ensure each other's safety from the hungry gaze of the Grand Duchy of Thecedor, especially in the wake of the nation's recent victory over the Macavurian Principalities. Pantfelin lies in a region filled with low lying grasslands and swamps, leading to a majority of its population living on the nation's west coast in port towns. One major town exists in the western marshes of Pantfelin: Ferendayle is a sprawling castle-town, located in the midst of the Pantfelin marshes, known primarily for housing the ancient sword known as the Blade of Pantfelin. The capital, Leminaros, is a port town known for its close connection to trade routes leading to the Yika Amku.   Pantfelin itself is an old nation, having existed long before the Wellspring, that, unlike many of its neighbors, had never been conquered by the now-collapsed Valaris Empire. The nation's prevalent marshes, and its population's isolated location, have made it difficult to mount any invasion into the nation from a land-based route. Pantfelin, for most of its existence, has chosen its leaders through a somewhat random method. Every major noble in the kingdom, at least those who wish to chance becoming King, is told to stand in a line. Then, a rock is dropped in front of each noble, onto an exactly similar marble pedestal. If the rock cracks, that noble is chosen to become Pantfelin's new ruler. This method, a cultural custom of the people of Pantfelin, has existed as is for nearly the nation's entire history, meant to prevent potentially tyrannical dynastic rule. Pantfelin, in the modern day, is a fairly calm nation as it does not face the same potential for invasion as Brontbran despite its association with the other Marcean nation. Pantfelin has close ties with the Yika Amku, with many Yikan trade guilds being housed in Pantfelin and vice versa. These close ties have led to the security of Pantfelin in terms of geopolitical standing, economic stability, and political stability as an independent nation.    Pantfelin's demographic distribution is somewhat irregular, with a concentrated populated region on its west coast but also intermittent cities and towns throughout the wetlands and marshes of the western regions of Pantfelin. Pantfelin is somewhat populous due to its links to global trade networks as well as its high influx of developed urban areas, a result of a prosperous economy. However, recent unrest among the western regions of Pantfelin has led to major economic issues as tax collection has been halted throughout the west. This has led to minor debts being accrued with certain trade guilds, threatening the possibility of the loss of their patronage and furthered economic strife. The western marshes are home to a majority of the Tudori, who live in the nation's wooded wetlands, in Pantfelin. Considered as an autonomous group within the kingdom, they are, in all but the law, independent from the legal code of Pantfelin, thus making many already cautious of the forest-dwellers to assume them to be causing unrest among the western lower-class populations.
