Wolgast Sym

The Wolgast Sym is a very young and militaristic nation, having been split from the larger Set'o Amku just under a century ago due to a rebellion from a coalition of more expansionist and imperialistic nobles. In the past century, the nation's territory has increased exponentially as the short line of Masai dynasty rulers have consistently expanded into the territory of the nearby Set'o Amku, Ik'umri Sym, and Ŕudfenian Amku. These three nations all border the Wolgast Sym and have enacted new defensive pacts against the unassumingly militaristic nation, fearing its expansionist nature. Due to the nation's small territory, it lacks a large population and recent wars have caused major shifts in the demographics of the kingdom, with a deficit of young men forming among the nation's population.    The Wolgast Sym is effectively ruled over by a militaristic authoritarian dictator, though the nation still uses the title of Symnic for its rulers. Thus, while being considered a monarchy, Wolgast acts in a far less honorable and chivalrous manner than is normally expected from other kingdoms. This has led to the nation becoming wildly expansionist in nature and gaining a reputation as being bloodthirsty and warmongering. Okaio Masai, the current Symnic, is a masterful tactician who has managed to defeat armies from Almorian coalitions and nearly doubled the Wolgast Sym in size since his ascension to the throne. Even with a small and underequipped military, the Wolgast Sym has become a generally feared force and is expected to become one of the most influential kingdoms in Halth'aire by the time Okaio Masai's reign would end.   Demographically, the Wolgast Sym is a sparsely populated nation with a population primarily concentrated in the eastern reaches of the kingdom, around the nation's river basins. The main settlements outside of the river basin are military encampments or quarries, whereas most of the settlements in the east are agricultural or trade-based towns. This unbalanced disposition of the nation's population is due to the steppe-like climate of most of the kingdom's land outside of the eastern river basin.
