Setʼo Amku
The Set'o Amku is a large, but declining, empire located in the northwestern regions of Almor, though "empire" may be a generous term at this time. It directly borders the Ik'umri Sym and the Wolgast Sym, two kingdoms which are both experiencing major growth and are generally in an improving state currently, especially when compared to the Set'o Amku. Recent territorial losses and forced reparations enacted by the Wolgast Sym after a series of wars has led to a floundering economic situation and general unrest among the nation's people. The Set'o Amku is a fairly poor state with a largely rural population that is concentrated in the southern regions of the country. This is due to the harsh and largely uninhabitable tundra in the nation's north as well as the dry and cold climate of the empire overall. The nation's largest settlements exist on the western coast and primarily live off of trade with the Yika Amku.
Kuse Keiyi, the Hapus Pixxogiopo of the Set'o Amku, is an extravagant and eccentric man. He is known to overspend and lives a life of hedonistic luxury, which has caused the nation's economy to continue to worsen as debt continues to build up. He is largely uninterested with his rule over the empire and chooses to instead pursue his own personal satisfaction, often harming his empire and its people in the process. However, due to recent treaties with the Wolgast Sym, future wars are unlikely and, as long as the empire continues to pay their tithes, peace is achievable. On the other hand, the seeds of unrest are already planted, and many within the empire are already prepared to break away and form separate kingdoms. The Set'o Amku is primarily focused, in terms of its economy, on a traditional economy of a mixture of agriculture, cottage-industry, and mining. There is an abundant amount of rare metal and crystal, left behind by the Wellspring's magic, in the cold tundra of the empire. While not exploited before, Kuse Keiyi's luxurious demands have led many to mount expeditions into the tundra to set up mining operations to extract those sought after metals and gems.
