Melena

Melena are Order of the Lady of Paladins knights , well armed and well trained mounted warriors. They start out as squires, serving the more experienced Melena. Knights and squires of all ranks are called Melena collectively.

Baulana (knight initiate) age 21-24
Remlana (knight expert) age 25-37
Rilana (lay brother, Knight expert) age 25-37
Erana (wandering knight expert) age 24+
Turlana (knight, veteran) age 38-45

MELENA - MASTER
Soylana (knight, master)
Sulana (honored patron, Baron and higher) any age
Venilana (retired) age 51+

MARRIAGE

The Order of the Lady of Paladins is not celibate. Melana of Remlana rank or higher may marry. Less than a third of Melana chose marriage as most have committed their life to Larani’s service. Those that do marry are permitted, at pleasure of the Reblena, to have their wives and children live with them in the Chapter House. More than one Melana has had to build a house outside when his wife caused too many problems and he was asked to move out. Most of the wives manage to live in peace and work in the Chapter House as part of the household. There are only a few female Melana. Most of them do not marry. Relations between male and female Melana is officially frowned upon.
