History

575TR - The King of Melderyn funded the creation of a Laranian fighting order, the Order of the Lady of Paladins. They aided the resistance against the Morgathians and were instrumental in the founding of the Kingdom of Kanday.   654TR - The Royal Keeps of Cundras and Fosumo defending the settlements in the Nuem Valley were granted to the Order by King Etobron. This was against the advice of the mysterious Council of Eleven.   672TR - King Torastra was impressed with the Order's fighting prowess during the Salt War between Kingdom of Kaldor and the Thardic League.   675TR - During the Treasure War between Kaldor and Chybisa, the Order fought on both sides; however the knights never personally clashed.   714TR Onwards - Larani and Peoni missionaries from Melderyn administering to the primitive Solori Barbarians in the Nuem Valley were tortured and murdered in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack. After many skirmishes in 717TR, a squadron of knights were ambushed, sparking the infamous Solora Crusade. Grandmaster Sir Enyel Trenoul reprisals against the Tribesmen have become increasingly brutal, drawing much criticism from both within and outside the Order. However, the crusade continues.

Sects

The Order has three types of chapters.

Marriage

The Order of the Lady of Paladins is not celibate. Melena of Remlana rank or higher may marry. Less than a third of Melana chose marriage as most have committed their life to Larani’s service. Those that do marry are permitted, at pleasure of the Reblena, to have their wives and children live with them in the Chapter House. More than one Melana has had to build a house outside when his wife caused too many problems and he was asked to move out. Most of the wives manage to live in peace and work in the Chapter House as part of the household. There are only a few female Melana. Most of them do not marry. Relations between male and female Melana is officially frowned upon.
