Battle of Aeredale Monastery

The Battle of Aeredale Monastery was fought during the Wythian-Lagonan War from September 4th 98AU until September 8th 98AU. Also called the Five Days Battle, the conflict began when 10 Azarian ships belonging to Jangól Chawl managed to slip their way North and raid a couple villages along Arnt Batin. At sunrise on September 4th, the monastery saw the blue dragon wings of the Jangól Chawl war-flag flying high atop their ships and fast approaching the island. The Jangól Chawl no doubt expected to find cowering monks and peasants begging for their lives, but instead they found the monastery had fortified itself, with every man and woman ready for them. Unknown to the Jangól Chawl, the esteemed Prince-Abbott Iwein was given vision of the foreseen threat as written below,
September 1st, 98AU   Last night the gods granted me sight in my dreams. Wings like that of the Dragons of old unfurled themselves, and enveloped the monastery. All seemed hopeless, except I saw myself, spear in hand, fighting back the creature until it crashed into the waves below.

Because of his dream, the Prince-Abbott Iwein had sent a messenger to Westkirk to King Alarin of Ulnost, warning him of the danger. The Abbott had also made sure to bring to arms all the monks and citizens, and hold up the defenses of the monastery to the best of his abilities. Upon the arrival of the Jangól Chawl, the monastery lit the Aeredale Beacon to further warn Westkirk of the threat.   The following four days and nights were a constant back and forth battle between the Jangól Chawl and monastery. The Jangól Chawl would be repelled on the first and second days, and the second night saw Prince-Abbott Iwein lead a small force out of the monastery and into the Jangól Chawl camp to try and ambush them while they slept. The ambush failed, and Prince-Abbott Iwein and his small force of men had to fight tooth and bone back to the monastery, where the defenders sallied forth to protect their leader. The third day saw the two forces hack and slash into each other until each side retreated to lick their wounds. The defenders of the monastery's moral had only been strengthened by their determination, and leadership of Prince-Abbott Iwein, whilst the Jangól Chawl were left with no other choice than to wait out of the defenders.
On the fourth day the Jangól Chawl burned all the surrounding homes and crops, hoping to starve the inhabitants of the monastery into submission, or so they wanted the defenders to believe. Under the cover of nightfall on September 7th, the Jangól Chawl launched their own ambush, and breached the defenses of the monastery. For the entire night, the defenders fought for every room, every hallway, until the sun rose in the East, and in it's rays of light, revealed the Ulnosti reinforcement ships, led by King Alarin himself to relieve the monastery. The Jangól Chawl, seeing their situation, broke and fled back to their ships, but they were pursued by Prince-Abbott Iwein and the remaining defenders. Prince-Abbott Iwein and his forces stalled for enough time, allowing King Alarin to surround the Azarian force, and force a surrender at sword point. Thus ended the Battle of Aeredale Monastery, and proved to not only the monastery, but the whole of Wythe, that the gods were on their side.
