Vesser Rantari Highmore
Druid of the Voice
Vesser Rantari Highmore
(Council name: Vesser the Lesser; born 15 April 406) is a druid of Briar Glen, founder of the Circle of the Voice and current member of the Argent Company.Early Life
Vesser was born in the familiar halls of the Sanctum of Dreams amongst the members of the Lesser and Greater councils of the druids of Briar Glen. His parents were Serena Highmore, a ranger of Ulnost and Vesser the Greater. He shares no siblings, but spent most of his early life with the druids of the Lesser Council, who he studied with throughout his childhood. Upon Vesser's twelfth birthday, he was inducted into the Lesser Council himself, following in his father's footsteps. It is rumoured that The Amber Lord, an archfey known as an Ela, was present to bless his induction themself- an event previously unheard of. Vesser spent most of his early years in the Lesser Council studying in the archives below the Sanctum of Dreams. It was in this way he learned to play several musical instruments, and became fluent in Druidic and Sylvan, gaining the respect of his Elven peers in the city. Years of study and training passed, and Vesser had turned twenty-two. As a core member of the Lesser Council, he had respect from his father, Vesser the Greater, who had recently become the Grandmaster of the Councils of Briar Glen, the highest position of power within the druidic councils. His family was successful and happy, but tragedy ensued. A report had come back from the rangers in the Ulnosti military that his mother Serena had been killed on an expedition near the eastern border of Eastwythe, the fallen Fae forests north of his home. It was after this that Vesser spoke to his father, and decided his Greater Trials were set out for him. He left his home for the first time in his life, and sought answers across the world to find what could have happened to his mother and how to stop the threat of Eastwythe for good.An Unexpected Journey
Vesser's travels took him far from the home he always knew. It was upon his arrival in the city of Barracksmouth when his skills landed him a gig. Vesser was to play in the local ball held by Lord Fleming Egelmond, a shifty noble known to collect valuable antiquities and artifacts. During the ball, Vesser heard an otherworldly voice; the plea for help from Argent Lily, an artifact coveted by Egelmond in his estate. Following this voice, Vesser came upon George Cadougan and Cedric Anglermen, a party looking to free the artifact from Egelmond's possession. He joined this heist, unable to quell his curiosity. This led the group to meet with Leighton Allister, a knight of The Autumnvale and Matthew Stanton, a squire bestowed to Allister from Egelmond. In this way, the beginnings of the Argent Company was born.Sacrifice
With travels on The Santana taking Vesser and his allies across much of the western kingdoms like Santa Alessa and Westwythe, the group came upon Kastus Iharovich Novalasky, a wizard from Sevnónicha trapped in an artifact. The party grew, and through their search for answers as to the location of Argent Lily and Alicia, the group ended up in the kingdom of Sinopa. Surrounded in a hostile land, the Argent Company defeated the royal witch Grandmama, a powerful lich holding high office in Sinopa. After sneaking into the lich's estate thanks to the help of Benedict Cothred and destroying her phylactery, the group's escape was soured by the appearance of the dracolich Rathwress. Exhausted and surrounded, Vesser made a decision. As his final act, he opened a portal to the friendly port of Acton and threw the party inside, himself being slain by the dracolich in the process. The Dreamstride
Despite Vesser's heroic sacrifice, The druid of Briar Glen's story was not over. The final living Dreaming Oak tree lived inside Vesser in the form of a seed, and through its power his soul was instead transferred to the mythical realm known as the Dreamstride. A mental dimension beyond time, it is formed by the power of these ancient trees. Vesser spent almost ten years in this place; this equaled about a few months in real time. He spent much of his time conversing with his killer Rathwress and befriending him. It was also in this place Vesser recieved training from The Amber Lord, the archfey who blessed his birth and sought his return to the mortal plane. For a short time, Vesser was contacted by a ritual by Leighton Allister and Kastus Iharovich Novalasky during a short visit to The Autumnvale. The group then began to set to work finding a way to bring the druid back, with a harrowing plot from The Amber Lord beginning to unfold.A Foul Rebirth
During this time, the party was met by a corsair known as David Slate, famous for running Sinopan blockades. Slate had been blessed by another Ela, the Coral Fisherman, and held a magic eye. This eye linked Slate to fey magic, and through a ritual with unknown consequences, Slate's soul was ripped out of his body, replaced by Vesser's. Brought back to life, Vesser realized the horrid circumstances of his revival and vowed to destroy the Amber Lord and the fey's influence on his people. The search for another artifact brought the Argent Company to Eastwythe, where the Amber Lord would be punished greatly for his misdeeds and the Dreamstride destroyed altogether. Vesser is now a senior member of the Argent Company, and works to rebuild the Druidic councils of Briar Glen.Vesser, circa. 430 A.U.
