Blood Pits
A monument to the cruelty of the Slave trade in The Ramian Empire. Blood Pits are the cruel arenas of bloodied sand, and spiked walls where Orcs taken as slaves are made to fight to the death against criminals, defiant slaves of other races, and even their own kind. All the while, blood thirsty crowds cheer on their favored fighters with cold hearted wagers being made on who would live and who would die.
The Blood Pits can be found through out the territory of the Ramian Empire. Characterized by the woeful statues holding up the arches of the entrances. A stark foreshadowing to the unimaginable cruelty exercised within. Where petty thieves and captured runaway slaves may be slaughtered in the most painful ways. And much worse. Such as brother, ordered to slaughter brother. With the bodies being left to rot in the scorching sands made wet with their blood.

Alterations
The Blood Pits were once simple 35ft x 35ft pits with lockable doors leading to stairways out of the pits. In later years, the pits were expanded to anywhere from 100ft x 100ft to 600ft x 600ft with scaling audience seating surrounding. The inner fighting ground was barred by spiked walls with over arching edges to prevent fighters from escaping into the crowd.
History
The Ramian Men remembered the brutality of the Orcs during The Orcish Conquests of the Third Aeon. Vowing to never live in fear of Inhuman Beasts, the Ramians devised a suitable and everlasting punishment for the Orcs. To be subjugated and conditioned into fighting slaves, and made to kill each other in the same savagery their ancestors displayed on them so long ago.
