Elves
The Second Oldest of the Elder Races. The Elves were the builders of many great city-state kingdoms. The writers of many great works of literature. And along side their cousin race, the Dragons. They explored and discovered the vast potentials of Magic. The Elves were once One People. The First Elves were all the Children of Alfan. Until they were presented with the Great Apple Trees of Vytol. Three Trees of Power that offered who so ever ate of their apples, irreplaceable gifts. One offered Immortality. Another offered The Mages Gift. And the Last offered an immortal Bond of Spirit to the Land itself.
Four from among the Elves stepped forward. Uandil Sunsworn, Svarcoas Nightcaller, Linuliel Oakenheart, and Maermacar Whitewave. Uandil and Svarcoas partook of all three trees. But Linuliel and Maermacar only partook of two. Refusing the gift of Eternal Life. Reluctant to experience a life without end, and an uncertain future. Uandil took this as a sacrilegious act. Svarcoas merely regarded them with mistrust. This would culminate in a massive debate, which then turned to aggressive violence. The four would take their followers and split from each other physically, and culturally. Linuliel would take her people to what is now known as The Great Autumnwood Forest, Uandil would take his people to Sentinels Peak, Svarcoas would take his people to The Great Deeps of Duordemar, and Maermacar would lead his people to what is now known as The Annar Peninsula. This dividing event would be known as the First Schism of the Elves. The Event to divide them as one people, and make them into many.
In time. With the deaths of all five of the Oraedar having changed the fate of the entire world. The wisest from among the Dragons would attempt to mend the wound that divided the Elves. They would gather the Folks of Elves in what is now known as The Bannar Plains. Where they would attempt to voice the grievances and disagreements that divided them. But outside influences, whose name or names remain unknown to history, compelled the Uandils Sun Elves to brandish their arms, as well as Svarcoas' Night Elves to brandish theirs. In the end. Elf spilled the blood of Elf. And peace became a laughable myth.
There would be no doubt. The Elves would never again be one people. They would become the Sun Elves of the Drakescale Plateau and Sentinels Peak. The Night Elves of The Great Deeps of Duordemar. The Wood Elves of The Great Autumnwood Forest. And the Sea Elves of The Calling Sea. The Distinctions in name coming from the commentary Scholars and Archaeologists.
In time. The Sun Elves would make war upon the Night Elves. With the Wood Elves caught between them. Resulting in a curse that led to the Gwyn'alfari or Dead Elves. A cursed sect of Elves that slaughter all in their path. And are called upon by the truly desperate, and the suffering.
The Conflict resulted in the extinctions of the Sun and Night Elves both. With each side leaving behind ruins of their once great civilizations. The Sea Elves would retreat into obscurity, then into legend. Where they possibly mingled with the Artean Men who would settle in their former land. Resulting in the Annar Men. And the Wood Elves would become the soul culture of the Alfari left on Helaeron. Leading many among the uneducated of Mankind to scarcely imagine any other kind of Elf.
