The Grentis Clan

"My family holds the honor of defending this place. We defend our city, as the guard presence within Endwater our job is to uphold the rule of law" - Collog Grentis, Captain of the city guard.

The clan was originally a nomadic Chiefdom of orcs living far to the west among the Hobgoblin tribes. After a catastrophic battle against the hobgoblin empire, this clan moved east into the Grande Rocc, and settled near what is now Endwater. After their chieftain passed away, his youngest son Grentis took over rulership and the clan put down permanent roots and building homes here.

Public Agenda

Protecting the city both as a city watch and guard force, and serving as an outside military force when required.

History

Founded nearly 400 years ago, the clan was originally a nomadic Chiefdom of orcs, called the Gentarat, living far to the west among the Hobgoblin tribes of th Hi-No Hitobito Empire.
After a catastrophic battle against the hobgoblins, this clan was nearly decimated and fled east into the Grande Rocc. Their they settled near what is now Endwater, along the Ludova river.
After finding a safe territory, their chieftain Grent passed away, and his youngest son Grentis took over rulership of the clan in -101 CE, renaming the clan after himself and putting down permanent roots and building homes of stone and sod.

Grentis, now known as Grentis the Champion by his people, led the clan in two small wars against marauding goblin and ogre tribes, cementing himself as a conquering hero in the eyes of his kin. His traditional red and gold splint mail armor (a souvenir from his time training as a warrior in the west under his fathers tutelage) was reconstructed with white and silvered leather and steel, symbolizing a new era for the tribe, and a clean separation from their past as subjugates of the Hi-No Hitobito.

Grentis went on to make peace with settling miners and other peoples who moved into the river basin alongside his chiefdom, and was known to be a fair and just ruler.
In time he dedicated himself and his closest lieutenants to a code of law and honor, swearing to protect and uphold his people, his honor and the laws of the chiefdom.

This new order was known as the Silverswords remains to this day. It was here in -97 CE that Grentis went from Grentis the Champion to Lord Grentis the Just, a powerful chief and leader of a recognized paladin order.

Even know, almost 200 years later some members of clan Grentis still are Paladins dedicated to the Silverswords, though the group is now a small token force, mostly dedicate to protecting the Grentis Family Estate.
