Endwater

"This town has a proud history of wealth and promise. Yes, the silver mines are starting to dry up, but we are hoping a new vein will be found any day! Regardless, we enjoy a decent way of life here... so long as you don't do anything to upset the Chamber of 12." - Endwater citizen

In addition, the city is guarded by a volunteer force of Human, Orc and Half-Orc militia maintained and trained by one of the noble houses.

Industry & Trade

Formerly a town of Silver mining and refining, the mines are slowly drying up and industry is moving towards more general logging and mining ventures.
Endwater enjoys steady trade upon the River Ludova, all the way up to Lake Silver. It is also a main stop on the North Trade Road.

Guilds and Factions

In addition to the Chamber of 12, the ruling council of the city, Endwater has many small guilds.
The Endwater College of Musical Arts is a well established and reputable bards college.
The Church of Silver Splendor is dedicated to the earning and redistributing of wealth (Particularly in that order).

History

Originally founded a mile from a spring-fed lake by silver miners, the town grew rapidly as a boom-town due to the natural spring and nearby silver mines. Over the last few centuries it has continued to grow, though with the decline in silver production a deep rooted criminal element has begun to take hold.

Geography

Endwater is built upon the sloping sides of a large hill, atop of which is Lake Silver.
The city is tiered, having several distinct levels built along the side of the hill, sloping down to follow the river.
The river is set with several locks, with which boats can be moved slowly up and down the hillside to the lake above.
