Tatrin Fabric

Tatrin (The Imperial Fabric)

The most popular fabric in Tenglan for its cheap processing costs and ability to retain essence. Its natural state is light brown and can be altered to create various unique clothes for different purposes.   All gallery pictures below were taken first thing in the morning before the The Lord's Essence saturation effect has taken effect.

Tatrin Natural:

The natural form of the material without processing additives. It has a light brown matt appearance and is soft to the touch.   Commonly found:
The colder climates of the North of Tenglan and due to its low cost with all poor Imperials.   Key Qualities:
It is the cheapest Tatrin option by far; thicker fabric makes it perfect for warmer climates and reasonably durable. Has a rural look following a function over style philosophy. Can be tinted using natural dyes to create warm, pastel-like colours.

Tatrin Plus:

Manufactured to be thinner than Tatrin Natural, making it a more flexible and comfortable option that feels soft on the skin and flows around the body nicely. Has a sheeny look with colours altered using advanced dyes that increase the cost.   Commonly found:
South of Tenglan in the hotter climates like Gete, it also started to grow in popularity in the centre of Tenglan, even making regular appearances with the middle class in Imperias City.   Key Qualities:
Sheeny appearance (doesn't reflect as much sun as Tetrin Premium), comfortable, soft on the skin, stop sweat accumulating on your body and highly breathable, so perfect for hotter climates. Also is exceptionally durable.

Tatrin Premium:

It is the most expensive of the Tatrin options but offers the most vibrant colours and is highly glossy, using the most expensive dyes available. The change in the manufacturing process makes the premium version thicker and inflexible compared to the other choices. People don't wear Tatrin Premium for comfort they wear it to make a fashion statement. It also is the weakest of the Tatrin options for collecting Essence, thus revealing your high social status.   Commonly found:
Central Tenglan. It is the number 1 choice for fashionistas in Imperias City and the influential Elista, reflecting style, individuality and wealth.   Key Qualities:
Expensive, smooth to the touch, extremely glossy that reflects the sun, Low durability that needs replacing after the shininess decreases (Otherwise, people will think you are too cheap to purchase new clothes). Worn by the middle to upper class in all central Tenglan. Not a breathable fabric, so hot climates make you sweat fast.   There is also a less common variant called Tatrin X (the X stands for Elite) which has a sheeny appearance like Tatrin Plus but repels the Lord's essence. This is only used by the wealthiest of Imperials like the Elista or royalty, who don't want their clothes saturated by the settling essence throughout the day. The church has yet to issue a statement on what they think of something that rejects the Lord's blessing. Until the Queen stops using Tatrin X on her rare public visits, the Church won't risk denouncing it.

Tatrin Textured:

This fabric is only partially Tatrin, with most of its composition made from animal leather hides. The Tatrin aspect allows for essence to accumulate on the clothing. It is a fabric that doesn't excel in any one area but, conversely, has no apparent disadvantages. The poor don't find it ridiculously expensive, it is not too cold nor hot for the South and North regions of Tenglan, and because it can be dyed to vibrant colours (not as bright as Tatrin Premium, obviously), it is even stylish enough for the fashionistas to wear on their more casual night's out—an all-round, all-year, multi-purpose fabric.   Comonly found:
Due to its multi-purpose functionality, it is widespread throughout all of Tenglan and most prevalent in Tatrin Central, followed by Tatrin North. This is also the favoured material for most balters, with the exception of the elite balters, who prefer the more glossy and expensive Tatrin Premium balter gear.   Key Qualities:
As mentioned, this textured variant is made from animal hides, so lasts many wears, is flexible around the skin, and has an attractive textured appearance that improves over age - all this at an affordable price.   There is also a Tatrin XT variant (the T stands for Textured) that offers all the same features as the standard model but without collecting essence, thus stopping the colours from saturating. As such, this variant is only applicable to Royalty and Elista.

Bare Clothed:

And, of course, we can't forget the final popular choice for Imperials in the more moderate climates of Tenglan. Going Bare-clothed offers the clear advantage of affordability and is one of the best ways to collect essence as it quickly settles on your skin. The downside is it is frowned upon in Imperial society to walk around bare-chested unless you are a Balter or have a Tetrin Premium top that shows your chest underneath.   It represents poverty, which is not a popular choice within Imperias City but can be seen in the slums outside Tenglan's Capital city.
