The Nonaments

The Nonaments, also known as the unbreakable truths, were a set of rules that Imperials had to follow if they were to remain on the Pure Path. They were told by the White Lord to each of the Guardians on separate days. The day the Queen heard the Lord's divine words, she etched them onto tablets. One law per tablet. They were then placed in the The White Church and guarded by the Knights of Purity. Each Guardian wrote down their interpretation of the White Lord's words and created Laws to be followed. For this reason, despite following the same God, the laws vary between races, and the numerous amendments over the years have further diverged each interpretation. The Imperial Queen's version of The Unbreakable Truths was upheld by all Father Superiors until the Great Fire destroyed them all. Since the fire, the Father who replaced the previous Superior has strived to follow the tablets as closely as possible and created a version called the The Virtuous Path. A comprehensive doctrine in how to remain on the Path whilst avoiding the Steps to Esh (another one of the Church's creations formulated post-fire). The two documents complement each other, helping one to live a taint-free pure life. The fact you are reading this tells me you desire to learn the truth, so I am offering you a nugget of information. I am one of a lucky few who possess an etched memory; once I learn something, it is locked forever in my mind. The Church refuses to trust the words of a blacklisted archivian who claims to have lived since year 0 - but I assure you, I speak the truth. In my youth, I sneaked into the The White Church and saw a church-abridged summary of the tablets. (I hasten to add this is not the comprehensive version compiled by the Queen - it is 'merely' the title of each law as originally inscribed to each of the nine tablets.) So, let's begin.
