The Virtuous Path
When you deviate from the Pure path (aka virtuous path or Lord’s path), you become tainted and step towards Esh. Once this occurs, you must follow redemptive steps, completing each one, one after the other, to return to the Lord’s path. This page highlights the actions you must perform to cleanse the taint. (It is important to note, this is in addition to the legal punishment one must face from the crime they committed.) Two possibilities are allowed in each redemptive path. Taking the easier first path always requires your actions to benefit the community, or the second path requires you to complete a heroic deed which allows a faster return to the Pure Path (based on the advice and recommendation of your designated priest).
1. Truth
(Redemption path for steps to deceit):To speak to children to tell them what you have learnt and to explain the virtues of not straying from the pure path. Once completed, your priest will check his The Lord's Pendant to see if you have found your way back to the pure path. If not, he will provide help to guide you.
Heroic deed: no heroic deed required; simply continue living an earnest life; your Priest will tell you once you have returned to the pure path.
2. Benevolence
(Redemption path for steps to decadence):To attend a week course on Empathy and understanding others. After the week, you will give a lecture about what you have learned. If the priest is satisfied, he will allow you back to path 1: Truth.
Heroic deed: To sell any unnecessary/extravagant belongings you possess and/or donate some essence coin to help a charitable cause of your choice.
3. Generosity
(Redemption path for steps to greed):To donate a partial percentage of your essence earnings to a charity your priest recommends; if the priest is satisfied with the contributed amount, he will allow you to move to path 2: Benevolence.
Heroic deed: To give a huge percentage of your essence to help a cause and continue to be charitable for the near future.
4. Temperance
(Redemption path for steps to wanton lust):To go to a therapy group for 1 month and learn temperance to the addiction you suffer from. If, after the month, you have shown progress, the priest will allow you to move to path 3: Generosity.
Heroic deed: To offer yourself for personal support to help other sufferers for a long-term period determined by your priest.
5. Forgiveness
(Redemption path for steps to mental abuse):To spend a month speaking about what you did in an open forum and feel it in your heart to try to forgive the crimes caused against you. If, after the month, the support leader is happy with your progress, the priest may allow you to move to path 4: Temperance.
Heroic deed: To help someone who is suffering from mental abuse. For every person you have mentally abused, you must help 3. Your priest will determine if the value of your help justifies skipping paths.
6. Tranquillity
(Redemption path for steps to violence):To spend a year learning meditation and steps to calm the anger inside. After, you will teach others to use meditation to help themselves. If you prove to be an effective trainer, the priest will allow you to join path 5: Forgiveness.
Heroic deed: To put yourself in harm’s way to save someone from violence. Your priest will determine if your deed allows you to fast-track through paths.
7. Humility
(Redemption path for steps to maniacal behaviour):To spend a year in a nursing home or school where you will learn how to care for others and then use what you learnt to train others with similar problems to you. If your guide is happy with your progress, the priest will allow you to move to stage 6: Tranquillity.
Heroic deed: To risk your own personal health by standing up against someone trying to manipulate others. Your priest will determine the value of your deed.
8. Salvation
(Redemption path for steps to terminance):Once a week, for the rest of your life, you must attend support groups and listen to the stories of all those who lost someone important and try to help them recover from their loss. If, after a year, your doctor is happy with your support, the priest will allow you to move to stage 7 Humility.
Heroic deed: To risk your life to save others. Your priest will use his truth medallion to see the value of your action and determine if you deserve to skip redemptive paths.
9. Empathy
(Redemption path for steps to excessive gratification):To spend once a week, for the rest of your life, atoning for what you did by going to regular help groups and hearing the stories of those who suffered the crime you committed. If, after two years, your therapy doctor is happy with your progress, you may move to path 8: salvation.
Heroic deed: No heroic deed can atone for such a crime.
10. No redemption
