Lamargar Forest

Lamargar forest is located southwest of Branul, between the countries of Sheoka and Ocrius, between the Durgdows range and the Grenlam ocean. Its great diversity and size is being compromised as both countries chop it, both for wood and for winning territory over the other country.

It is now currently owned by Sheoka, but there are constant fights on which country is actually the owner, as the forest is their natural border and neither of them wants to have it as a neutral territory. Both countries have raised towns in both sides of the forest.

The forest is known by its underground natural tunnels and caves, most of the entrances are unknown or covered by rockslides. Lagai seems to have found a cave leading to the underground part of the forest. And since The dawn of magic, many strange things have appeared.

Flora

The flora found in this forest can be divided into three groups, depending on their size or origen.

  • Trees: there are about 5 different species of trees living in the forest. All of them with needleleaf, evergreen, coniferous trees. These trees tend to grow up to 20m and are very thin. The trees are: Melting pine, Half dressed pine, Nesting pine, Twisted pine, and Full dressed pine.
  • Shrubs: the shrub plants are not necessarily a shrub, but they are called shrubs as it is the most common plant in the understory layer of a forest. Some of them are: the Twisted roots and the Flowering vine.
  • Outers: the outers plants (unofficial name, as an official name has not been decided yet) are plants that come from Ashtara and started appearing after The dawn of magic. One of the most common is the Spiral pine.

Fauna

The fauna of the forest is almost more diverse than the flora, specially since the introduction of outers fauna from Ashtara. It is mainly inhabited by insects and birds.

Some of the most known species of fauna are: the Howl, the Shriek, the Spotted legged (an outers), and Crested fool.

Ruins & caves

The forest is littered with different ruins and caves entrances. As more to the mountains one approaches, the more ruins and caves one would find, yet no one recognizes where the ruins come from or from who was it. On top of these ruins, crashed pieces of Ashtara have been found, but noone tried reclaiming anything and most peasants are too scared to deal with them.

The caves entrances all seem to direct to the same cave system, the Soufest system, a giant cave system that covers most of the sout-west of Branul, from the Durgdows range to the Grenlam ocean.

Conflict

The forest's ownership has caused conflict between Sheoka and Ocrius for centuries. The conflict, while publicly is because of territory and knowing where a country ends and where the other starts, is also caused because the amount of cave entrances to the Soufest system, which is known for its generous amounts of minerals.

While this conflict has not caused physical interactions, signs of a war in the middle of the forest can be seen, and both countries, while denying that a physical confrontation with the other ever happened in there, are eager to hide and destroy such signs.

"No, no, there has been no fighting here. I don't know what you're talking about." *hides body*   I really like the names of the different trees. Half-dressed and full-dressed are my favourites. :D
