Session 52: Transitive Property, Core Property Of Druidic Magic

General Summary

The session began on Deepfrost 12, 2597 around mid-morning in a blighted forest in the Rodanis Consortium. A brutal fight broke out between 10 blighted trees and the party. After quite a bit of fighting, the blighted trees were fully destoryed leaving the party to take a moment to collect themselves.
As they began investigating the area, Rodan Spice found a humanoid hand. After further investigation, Wren found part of a chest and they eventually determined there were bodies within the trees. After uncovering a mouth in another tree, it was decided they would not bother to speak with dead currently in the trees. They assumed they might be druids who might have attacked each other at times to protect them, but they were unsure.
After thinking more about this necromatic magic (which Alena Birch identified in the blighted trees), Atticus was able to identify that the blight magic was not dissimilar to that found within the Library of Ta'jat's "Dark Arts and Forbidden Rituals" collected during the attempt to lift the curse from the Purple Minotaur Tribe. Atticus said this from atop his newly summoned spectral horse.
It was at this point that Atticus revealed the Necromancer from this encounter (Krot) was not really dead. He fulfilled the promise to bring the necromancer's head to Alena Birch, but did not say anything about killing him. Atticus explained that he kept him alive because he could be useful. With this, the party decided to continue on foot deeper towards the source of the blight with Alena Birch leading the way.
Kale noticed on the way that there was a bit of cloth under a tree a few hours away from their last location. Tork rolled the tree off of the body and Alena Birch cast speak with dead on the flattened body.

  • Why the long face? A tree fell on it.
  • What's your name? Zygma.
  • Are you a druid? Yes.
  • Where is the Seal? About two hours travel South-East of here.
  • How do we seal the seal? I do not know.
  •   Conversation then turned towards Wren now being in charge of the coven and what the party should do after they save the land from the blight? Coming to no concensus, they decided to fly as eagles and focus on stopping the blight for the time being.
As the ground became more blackened and dead, trees eventually deteriorated more until eventually there was an ash covered circle (about 8 miles in diameter). They noticed at the center was a gray-white stone, with a 15' radius. The party decided to go back to the edge of the clearing and to take the night to recharge before approaching. The following morning, well rested, about an hour after first light, the party approached the center of the clearing on foot. About 150 feet out from the stone they were able to tell it had a jagged crack pulsating with a purple and black and blue energy which was streaming out of it like a gas. Around the side walked Miz, and at first glance at their quarry, Tork was able to identify this person not only as Miz, but also as Chief Mizandil, leader of the Sand Druids. Kale could see a wild, almost feral look in her eyes as they approached, and she began to cast a spell. Atticus attempted to counterspell it but was not able to match the pattern before a gate wrenched open and disappeared, leaving the drow matron the party had seen in its place. With this, the session ended, with the two powerful mages standing opposite of Joint Operations LLC, about 90 feet apart. So ended the session, on DeepFrost 13, 2597, near the cracked seal in the Rodanis Consortium.
