Session 22: Stealing from Old Men's Homes Report
General Summary
Session 22 of Iskudar: Heros of the 5th Age! In this session, the party explores and begins to uncover some of the secrets of Eastrin. . .After a brief interaction with the surrendered thug from the last session, the party learns about Anastasia's drive to complete their mission, uncovering a darker side of him and the charming cowboy Cicero. The disillusioned Evgenii makes her journey to Hollow Oak, while the party heads straight to Eastrin. (*Take a shot*). Once arriving they are informed of a new player in the game on intrigue and danger, a Bird Person who wished to be informed of the parties return to Eastrin-and if they have returned with Darminov. From that moment they waste no time going to fulfill their goals in the big city, with Torin, Legacy, and Anastasia heading towards North District, and Cicero and Iola heading towards the ruined southeast district. While the folks in North District sell their goods, purchase some new ones, and learn of a group raiding along the road that leads south towards the Dwarfish kingdoms, jacking up prices on precious metals and gemstones. In the southeast district Iola and Cicero find that a friend's house has burned down. . .they continue to make their way deeper into the city, finding the cursed remains of a large part of the city, and the altars and statues to Lolth and her dark spider powers. They investigate the dark ruins before a man afflicted with the spider curse warns them of its effect on people. Once he sees Cicero he flees. Iola gets spooked by the dark runes of the Statue, and her and Cicero leave, heading towards the bakery that Margret worked at to figure out what happened to her. Torin stays in the North district to do some more shopping, while Legacy and Anastasia go to Darminov's house to do some much-needed investigating and stealing, lol. They find that the mundane house has many a secret, puzzles unlocking doorways, traps set to burn papers, and display cases filled with strange curios all decorate the inside of the old man's house. Meanwhile, Cicero and Iola find out that the baker lady has not seen Margret and is harrowed to learn about her house burning. She suggests they speak to the guards who watch over the gate to the southeast District. They leave and Cicero begins to open up about his goals as an adventurer to Iola, while unannounced to them Torin watches and listens from the crowd. Ana and Legacy make their way into the basement of Darminov's house, uncovering more secrets. But before they can investigate it thoroughly the trap in the room is triggered by an unknown agent, causing the room to quickly fill with fire and smoke. After 12 seconds of quick thinking and expert spell casting, they manage to escape into a tunnel system that exists underground in the ruined undercity. They walk deep in the dark thin tunnel for 15 minutes before reaching a stone brick wall. Legacy inspects in, uncovering that it's actually made of painted crafted wood. After this discovery, Anastasia promptly shoves a piton through it, to the dismay of the man on the other side of the false door. After a quick lie about their origins, they are told that secrecy is important here and are given large cloaks and white masks. After that, they enter into a brothel and are quickly attended to by prostitutes. Their session ends, with two members of the party escaping a crispy fate and ending up in another potentially dangerous local, unsure of how to escape without seeming suspicious. The rest of the party learns of one of their member's true motivations, or at least the motivations they put on display. . .what will happen next in Session 23: Hearts, Minds, and Sexy Bodies?!
