Non-linear hierarchy

Non-linear hierarchy is a form of social or political organization according to which those who hold power over their inferiors do not necessarily hold power over their inferiors' inferiors. Non-linear hierarchy is often of cyclical nature: for example, A may hold dominance over B, who may hold dominance over C, who may in turn hold dominance over A.   In prehistoric Kea, non-linear hierarchy is thought to have been common, with dominance being established on an individual basis.   Many modes of governance across the keaic world have implemented a form of non-linear hierarchy, such as the Great Harmony or the Neo Violet Coast empire, nations of the Classical Era.   Non-linear hierarchy has been questioned, favored or disliked according to location and time. The Vast South during the Early Classical Era was mainly comprised of countries who followed or implemented non-linear hierarchy, but harmonic golden age philosophy called it into question across the region.
