The Triad Pantheon

Pantheon of gods brought over from Old World across the sea. The three gods represent three different elemental domains. Their followers optimally work closely with one another and have very close ties to each other. They will often cooperate in different ways, but will not compromise their allegiance to their singular god.   There is an unspoken fourth deity that oversees them all, and only the highest priests of the gods, and ancient races of dwarves are aware of its existence.   The three primary deities are:
  1. The Phoenix (NG) (Fire) - The Phoenix is represented as a large, flaming bird that periodically dies and is reborn. It encourages rebirth, renewal, seeking to improve oneself, and an emphasis on change and new goals. Its organized following is called Phoenism.
  2. Each-Uisge (LG) (Water) - The Each-uisge (Eekh-OOK-uh) is represented as a watery horse, who perpetually flows and runs throughout the waters of the worlds. It encourages the virtue of consistency, tradition and perseverance. There is an emphasis on the past, especially as it connects with the present and future in a large ocean of time. Its organized following is called Eachism. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Each-uisge)
  3. Mantidae (CG) (Air) - The Mantidae is represented as a giant praying mantis-like insect that is believed to inspire constant change and virtuous conflict. Its followers believe the wind from its wingbeats brings people together and drives them apart, and are challenged to resist both forces when appropriate in order to strengthen and improve themselves. Its organized following is called Mantidism.
The fourth, unseen deity is:
  1. Nehebkau (NG) (Earth) - The Nehebkau (Neh-HEB-kaw) is represented as a giant, coiled snake, dragon, crocodile or worm that lives below the earth. The three other deities pay fealty to it, although its existence is not generally known outside the highest levels of the clergy. It has no direct adherents, but those who are aware of it understand it represents solidity, community, cooperation and brotherhood. To follow one of the three is to follow the one. All work together to serve the common good. Popularly, the element of earth is considered to be universal and connective, and not tied to a particular deity. It has no organized religious following, although some dwarves know of its existence and at one time pledged their faith to it.
