Mission report:
Three strange brave adventurers, a halfling, dragonborn and a human took upon them the mission to deal with the haunting problem of The Old Watchtower. For many years the old tower and the old house next to it has reportedly been haunted by maleficent spirits. No one deared getting close and enter these buildings, and those that did never returned. The three brave men supposedly entered the old house first, finding themselves in a horror story. They could hear childrens laughter and running but no children could be found. They later appared to be ghost of two children who used to live here before the last human/orc war. They also encountered a vicious and deadly mimic, making itself look like a chest, and they also had to fight a chair... if anyone could belive that. In the same room they encountered the mimic, and the "deadly" chair, they saw a family portrait. This was the home of the Whistleblow family, one of Fishtowns old noble houses. It pictured Derrick Whistleblow, the commanding sergeant of The Old Watchtower, his wife Hilda Whistleblow and their two twin children, Lun and Luna. One girl and one boy. The dragonborn got badly hurt in the encounter with the mimic, but the three brave adventurers managed to kill the monster. Luckily the adventurers was prepared, and they used one of Mistryn's healing potions to save the dragonborns life.
The spirits played many tricks on the party. Apparently most parts of the stairs leading up to the next floor was merely an illusion.
The party couldt find anything to help them up the stairs, but in the end they finally got up. Here they saw the two ghost children showing them the way up to the attic. Upon entering the attic they could se three burnt bodies at the far end. They had to be carefull getting to the bodies, since the roof and the floors had been heavily damaged by a fire. The brave little halfling got up close and personal, and he could see that the bodies was of a woman embracing her two children, as if trying to protect them from the fires. Upon closer inspection a terrible specter rose from Hildas body, screamed horribly telling the party to "LEAVE THIS PLACE! LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE!"
The party had to fight the specter, since the specter apparently trapped them inside the attic. Terrible smoke rose from the holes in the floors and the roof, and this smoke turned out to be dangerous if they got near. It was, as the adventurers tells it "As if all the joy, color and life of this world got drained away". A challenging encounter began. The specter screamed so horribly of anger and dispair, such a scream that would put the fright in any man, but in the end the party managed to destroy the specter. Upon the specters destruction, it was as if all the color, light and joy in the world returned, and where they once saw the burnt corpses of the mother and her children, they now saw them as if they were alive. Hildas old wedding ring dropped to the floor. Upon inspection, they could read the inscription, sayin "Yours forever, Derrick"
Later the party entered The Old Watchtower, and here they encountered the ghost of Derrick Whistleblow. The ghost showed them a vision of what had happened to him and his family. They got images of Fishtown being under attack by the orcs, and the orcs had set fire to their family home, with his family trapped inside. Derrick himself was trapped inside The Old Watchtower, unable to help his family. As the orcs breached the doors of the tower, Derrick prayed a desperate prayer to the Storm elemental god Talos. Just when the orcs got to him, a terrible tidal wave came crushing in the bay, destroying all the orc ships. The tidalwave chrused into the tower and Derricks homel killing all in its way. No one ever saw Derrick again. The human, Djack Ocean presented Hildas wedding ring to the ghost of Derrick, and upon doing so, the spirits of his family appared next to him, embracing him. Suddenly the ghost of Derrick appared as the man he once was, with tears of joy in his eyes. He thanked the adventurers for saving him and his family, and now they could finally rest. Another ring dropped to the floor, where the spirits once stood. This turned out to be Derricks old wedding ring. Mission accomplished.
