Frederick has always cared about one thing, pride. It's why he is a devout follower of Xunos, however he is also known to be reather greedy. He rules his house with an iron fist and doesn't take no for an answer.
He was raised in a small household as an only child and he was spoiled, as such he's now a very selfish man with only his goals and needs in mind.
When he learn his daughter Seras Dracazarious was blessed by Ixlena, he knew he could exploit it to gain power and wealth from the church. As such, he has essentially imprisoned his daughter until he can find the right place for the right price.
Knowing that Norrin Dracazarious was against this idea, he began to try to get him to runaway. After a few years he succeeded in that task, much to the res of the family's dismay. He hasn't heard of or from him in years and he wants to keep it that way.
When Chadwick Dracazarious went to find Norrin Dracazarious, he prayed to Xunos that he would fail. He then attempted to use this against Seras Dracazarious by making her believe that her brothers hated her so that they couldn't get in his way.
