The Creed of Ashensouls
Mythology & Lore
Ervo's propensity to go unnoticed is surpassed only by Modus, Goddess of Secrets. Ervo's Mystics in the Creed of Ashensouls are as unique as they are enigmatic, particularly when compared to other religious orders on Jeharr. Most remarkably, the Mystics do not specifically revere any known Saints, including Ervo's two saints Saint Nematex and Saint Aneftis. Typically religious orders on Jeharr adopt the tenants and myths of a specific Saint in order to have a cohesive worship and set of tenants. Saints also act as emissaries to their respective Gods' Mortal worshipers, making them useful central figures for religious orders across Jeharr. Having a Saint as a central figure in the worship of a religious order also makes that order more appealing to common Mortal worshipers as Saints tend to be aligned with more specific, tangible concepts than their Gods, who are aligned with more abstract ideas.
While the Mystic's lack of a central saint figure is odd compared to other religious orders, the Creed also does not seem to share the goals of most most other religious organizations on Jeharr. Most religious orders on Jeharr seek to forward the will of their deities on Jeharr and to expand their worship. The Creed of Ashensouls does not seem to seek new worshipers nor have any public image. The Mystics' only interaction with the world outside of High Virki is when singular Mystics descend from the mountains to advise the Stagcoran clans.
Priesthood
The Mystics are the members of the Creed of Ashensouls that are responsible for maintaining High Virki, advising the clans, and performing the Creed's sacred duties. As with every aspect of the Creed of Ashensouls, the process by which one becomes a Mystic is shrouded in mystery but some rumors among Stagcorans exist. It is said that the Mystics each spend a decade in meditation, performing simple labors around High Virki, and observing the world from high on the mountains above Stagcora. After years of simple labors and focused divining meditation the Mystics allegedly gain the ability to cast their vision across the world and across time. It is said that the Mystics must become nothing and lose all awareness of themselves before they can see the truths of the rest of the world. During this time the aspiring Mystics take a vow of silence, they lose their names, and there is no official word for these individuals to further their commitment to nothingness. Once they gain their true sight the Mystic takes on a new name, the title of Mystic, and at long last break their vow of silence before descending from the mountains to advise the Stagcoran clans and travel for decades.
Granted Divine Powers
The "True Sight" that the Mystics attain through labor and meditation is just as shrouded in mystery as every other aspect of the Creed. It is said that a Mystic's true sight grants them insights into the thoughts of those around them, knowledge of the future and past, the ability to cast their vision anywhere in the world, and even see other planes of existence, including the realm of the Gods, Orbis.
