Dye Works

Along with cleanliness, Chultans adore colour, especially in their decor and clothing. Textile weaving is not a native industry to Port Nyanzaru, cotton and sheep being very difficult to farm in the jungle terrain, however the island does provide every necessary component in crafting vibrant dyes in a rainbow of colours. Fabrics are imported, mainly light and plain, and then taken here to be dyed in an array of colours and patterns. Local tailors work the fabrics into every kind of shape and size, though long loose shirts, knee length pantaloons, sarongs, skirts and kilts are favoured by Chultans. The clothing is sold locally or exported again.   The colours of Port Nyanzaru bleed into the sea around the Dye Works, perpetually changing shades of orange, blue, red, green, yellow, depending on whatever residues are dumped from the vats. Similarly, the hands and feet of those who work here are rainbow stained, easily recognisable on the streets.
