Eku generally shows no interest in turning a profit for herself, and will only guide groups who in her estimation show a willingness to help others, combat evil, or otherwise achieve good. She seems to be very knowledgeable about Chult and surviving in the jungle, but far less comfortable inside the city, sitting quietly by herself until approached by potential recruiters. There are some who say those she has lead into the jungle have not returned. Eku herself has been known to exclaim that to survive in Chult, you must first respect it. She was last seen leading a strange band of adventurers towards the River Soshenstar.
Recent Events
Eku had led many parties towards the plateau of
M'Bala, a place that she had spent time and had been taken over by
evil powers. A curse lay upon Eku that put her in a state of forgetfulness and distress the closer she came to the ruined city, eventually receding her to her original mission to return to
Port Nyanzaru in order to find a worthy group to help her defeat the evil in M'Bala. In this way, Eku had unwittingly led many groups to their dooms in the jungle.
One group was able to overcome Nanny's trials, and in doing so accidentally undid the curse laid upon Eku, allowing her return to the plateau unhindered, her mind once again fully hers. The group fled from Nanny's wrath, but that evening
Hina Hiroto had a dream vision, where Eku spoke to him, having apparently returned to M'Bala and killed Nanny.
In the dream, Eku vowed to work towards atoning for the harm she had caused whilst under Nanny's curse, she showed The Sexiles the location of
M'Bala Palace Grounds hinting at a treasure to be found within. She also took the body of
Noland, who fell in battle to the hag, to "be amongst his own kind".
Revelations
From translating the diary found in
Nanny's hut, it seemed a character fitting Eku had been present in M'Bala a long time ago, correcting many of the ills Nanny had inflicted upon the people, but Eku possessed some power beyond what Nanny could contend with, and in a confrontation, fought and killed the Hag. Eku is described in the diary as "flying with rainbow wings" before stabbing Nanny through the heart with blade.
In
Hina's dream, Eku was seen standing in M'Bala with Nanny's severed head in here hand. Eku described this as the second time she has killed her.
