Ubtao

Ubtao was once a Primordial, an ancient being of immense power that existed before recorded history. During the wars between the first Gods and the Primordials, Ubtao was one of several that turned and fought with the Gods. As a reward for his deeds, he was granted the island of Chult as his divine domain.
Often depicted as Chultan warrior, armed with the traditional Yklwa and hide shield, he can be distinguished by the uncanny mask with large eyes and bright feathers. Statues bearing this resemblance can be found all over the island, often overgrown by the jungle, but still prominent in the ruins of the old cities such as Mezro and M'Bala. Sometimes more subtly displayed, but just as iconic to the God, is the symbol of the maze. To ancient Chultans the maze represented the path of life, which Ubtao would guide you through and reward you for completing. It's still said that following or tracing the mazes Ubtao brings can give good luck.

Revelations

Pictograms within the chambers beneath the M'Bala Palace Grounds revealed a story of the Primordial Ubtao defeating the entity Dendar over the Peaks of Flame, and being granted Godhood over Chult. He was subsequently worshiped across the island, especially the city of Omu. A time came when the Omuans turned their back to his divinity, and so Ubtao abandoned Chult, his clerics losing their divine blessings, and his influence has not been seen since. Current Chultans such as those in Port Nyanzaru know of him only as an old tale of an old religion. The only remaining traces are the lost statues around the island, and strange Artifacts  of the past, such as the Mask of Ubtao.
