Zalkoré
Queen
The Ancient Queen of Omu, in an age when Ubtao was still worshipped as a God of Chult. Beautiful and vain, she bargained with fell powers to keep her beauty forever, and instead became cursed so that none may look upon her.
Zalkoré's lover was the great General Thiru-Taya. When she was cursed, the senior officials of Omu conspired to banish Zalkoré, and Thiru-Taya was imprisoned. Zalkoré believed her lover to have betrayed her, and when she fled to her royal gardens at Ka-Nanji, she defaced many of the walls and statues, before she learned the truth, when eventually his ashen remains were brought to her.
In Her solitude and grief, and with the narcotic effects of her garden flora, Zalkoré descended into madness, she simultaneously believed she was still a beloved ruler of Omu and her lover was with her, as well as knowing she was alone and hated. The gardens became known as Nangalore, Gardens of Lost Dreams.
