Supreme Command

To assure the Lanarian Empire's military benefits from both the fresh ideas of youth and the wisdom of experience, three people of varying ages share the responsibility of commanding the armed forces.
Currently, the members of Supreme Command are (from youngest to eldest) Zadie, Rimzor, and Minalla. Trinzat was the Senior Supreme Commander before Minalla.

Structure

The Junior Supreme Commander is typically a recent graduate of the academy. They must have graduated at the top of their class and have shown the ability to think in innovative ways. Ideally, they have been in a battle and proven themselves capable of thinking on their feet.
The Veteran Supreme Commander was once the Junior, but has more experience now. They are used to working with the Senior and are often the moderating influence between the two extremes.
The Senior Supreme Commander has been a military leader for decades, a veteran of many campaigns, well-versed in the tried and true methods.
Traditionally, when the Senior commander retires from service, the Veteran commander takes their place, the former Junior commander becomes the new Veteran, and a new Junior commander is appointed. If someone is incompetent, difficult to work with, abandons their post, or is otherwise unfit for command, they may be replaced by someone of a similar age.

History

The exact origins of the triple command structure are hazy, but the practice is believed to have begun with Melsar's generals. The Conqueror was known to travel with three commanders when moving his army across Lanaria, and subsequent generations probably followed his example.
