Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard is responsible for the protection of the Emperor or Empress and their family, as well as the palaces, estates and other places they inhabit or visit.
Their headquarters are on the grounds of the Imperial Palace.
Director Ambruk is the current head of the organization. The chiefs of individual security details answer to him, but have a great amount of autonomy in the day-to-day procedures.
Current members of the Imperial Guard include Bronzar, Tradlak, Cintral, Gerwalz, and Mardim.

Structure

The Imperial Guard organization is divided into Investigative and Protective Services Divisions.   The Investigative Division is responsible for screening the palace's incoming mail, investigating threats made against the royal family, and researching new security technology and techniques. They also monitor comedy, parody, and satire featuring the royal family in case it crosses the line into slander or threats.   The Protective Services Division is further divided into individual security details for the monarch and their immediate family members. They are also responsible for securing the Imperial Palace, other estates owned by the royal family, and wherever the monarch visits.

Culture

All members of the Imperial Guard undergo months of grueling training before officially being sworn in.   Guards work a rotation of two weeks of active duty, then one week of training, practice, and rest. This allows them to stay up-to-date with their training and abilities while also having a respite from the hyperawareness that is required of them the rest of the time. During this "off" week, all guards also renew their oath to protect the monarch at all costs, and to maintain professional distance by swearing not to "contradict, counsel, converse or consort" with the emperor or empress.   In the modern era guards wear whatever they need to in order to blend in around the monarch, which usually means some kind of dark suit for both men and women. Traditional red uniforms with gold trim are only worn for ceremonial occasions like coronations, funerals, and weddings.

Assets

The Imperial Guard headquarters houses research labs, offices, banks of monitors displaying the myriad of cameras around the palace, a gym, weapons storage and practice ranges, extensive files on anyone who has ever threatened a member of the royal family, and a hallway lined with plaques dedicated to each guard who gave their life to protect the emperor or empress.

History

The greatest shame of the Imperial Guard was the assassination of Emperor Xeebon, and all guards going into or out of their headquarters must pass by a statue of the slain ruler as a reminder of their failure.
