Humanoid
Humanoids are the most common type of sapient people in the galaxy, descendants of the Homo sapiens whom the Progenitors scattered across the galaxy. While not all fall under the same Homo genus, in part due to the sometimes large-scale genetic changes made to them, they are all grouped together under the not-quite scientific term humanoid.
While humanoids vary greatly due to tampering by the Progenitors, they are best characterized by their adaptability. This, along with their unusually high Vita production, made them appealing as a species used to seed the galaxy. Whether this decision led to the experimentation, or whether the experimentation started to make humanoids more fit for the various environments, is unclear, and will continue to be unclear with the extinction of the Progenitors.
Basic Information
Anatomy
As a wider group, humanoids vary somewhat in appearance, especially due to genetic tampering. Their baseline is human-like: two legs, standing on their whole foot, two arms with five fingers, a head with two eyes. An internal skeleton, supporting a muscular system and organs. They are, however, a diverse people, and not all humanoids meet their human standards.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Humanoids are omnivores by origin, though specific species may (heavily) lean towards one or another. A rare few are true specialists, but it is incredibly uncommon. Most species said to be carnivores can, and will, eat fruits and such as well, and most herbivores are not above consuming meat if they get the opportunity.
Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Humanoids are the prime species used by the Progenitors to create Vita, a magical energy produced by all life, but which is created in unusually high amounts by humans--and thus, by most humanoids. For this reason, they were scattered across the galaxy, altered to help them adjust to various habitats, in an attempt to further increase their Vita production, or just out of curiosity.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
They tend to be human-like, though sharpness of senses varies greatly, with the various humanoids adapted to many different environments. Some may have keen eyesight in the dark but poorer smell, others may all be poor of sight but possess incredible hearing, some may rely on senses baseline humans don't know.
