Hex'oatl Empire
The beginnings of the Hex'oatl Empire are shrouded in mystery; their empire has spanned from a time long before written record, and, though far smaller than it once was, continues to exist even now.
Historical Basis
The empire spanned, at it's height, from the southern end of the Pridelands northward, ending at the great divide and the site of the modern-day gondola system; it even stretched westward, as records indicate the Lizardfolk had found a way to reliably cross the Himhineldar Shel mountain range to the unexplored lands beyond. During the peak of the Draconic Age, the empire faced a great schism, as rulers from many of the temple cities lay divided in their loyalties between the Tyrant and their Empire, a schism which never fully healed and began to erode the strength of the leadership over the next several centuries.
This shift in the leadership continued unabated for years, even after the death of Teraptus causing many of the temple cities to begin dividing into factions, and, ultimately, to a bloody civil war which lasted until sometime around 300BD.
Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of lizardfolk lay dead, but the warriors of the Great Temple of Ixpiyacoc finally succeeded at defeating the last of the rebellious forces, once again uniting their peoples under a single banner and a single leader, the powerful mage X'gar.
Peace and harmony existed amongst the Hex'oatl empire for the first time in centuries; though the empire's territory had shrunk dramatically during their in-fighting, they continued to expand their temples and weave their deep-magic nets over what remained within the confines of the Whistling Wood .
As Lyras began marching northward with her necromantic armies, the Hex'oatl Empire stood against her for decades, thwarting her advances at every turn. This unified empire was ultimately their own undoing, as Lyras focused her ire and wrath upon them, corrupting their spawnings and slowly turning many of the empire's denizens into a twisted visage of themselves, giving birth to the hideous race now known as the Adan'f .
