The Argyros Peaks
Towering high in the northern territory of Khana, the Argyros Peaks form a stunning and majestic mountain range. Their name 'Argyros', originates from the Dray language, translating to 'silver' – a poetic reference to their perpetually snow-capped summits that shimmer like silver under Khana's sun.
The landscape of the Argyros Peaks is a celebration of nature's grandeur. The rugged cliffs and jagged peaks sketch an awe-inspiring skyline that can be witnessed from miles away. The tallest peak, known as Mount Krios, reaches a staggering elevation, its peak piercing the clouds and becoming a subject of mystery and local folklore.
The slopes of the Argyros Peaks are adorned with lush forests of pine and cedar, hosting an abundance of wildlife. As one ascends higher, the dense vegetation gives way to the harsh, mountainous terrain. Despite being frequently battered by snowstorms, making the peaks largely inaccessible for much of the year, they are not devoid of life. The resilient Toth have found a home here, thriving amidst these challenging conditions.
One of the significant features of the Argyros Peaks is their rich deposits of minerals and precious metals. This makes them a coveted destination for miners and prospectors, despite the dangerous terrain and severe weather conditions.
Yet, the fame of the Argyros Peaks extends beyond their natural splendor and mineral wealth. Nestled amidst these mountains are The Gar Holds, which house The Great Library of Gar, a treasured repository of knowledge revered across Khana. This library is a testament to the Gar's wisdom and their dedication to the preservation and dissemination of knowledge.
Additionally, these peaks are famous for their role in the historic Battle of the Shattered Peaks. During this decisive conflict, the legendary Gar mage, Killith the Wise, manipulated his arcane energies to shatter the peaks, causing them to collapse on the advancing orc army, thereby securing victory.
Post the battle, the peaks were fittingly renamed as the 'Shattered Peaks', a lasting tribute to this pivotal event. Even now, the Argyros Peaks continue to stand as a symbol of Khana's formidable landscape and the unyielding spirit of its denizens, their shimmering summits resonating with stories of strength and resilience.
