Jell is one of the main researchers in the tortle tribe living in the Unnac Settlement, located within the Wagahui Jungle. He is an older tortle who has spent his whole life working hard to research one specific topic, although there is not a lot known about what this topic since the tortles tend to be quite secretive about their work.
Generally he is very peaceful and calm, which is also why he has managed to live quite a long time already. He doesn’t leave the settlement very often (partially because he is quite old), but when he does it is almost always related to a very important research subject.
Due to his specialty Jell has become somewhat of a central person for all of the Unnac Settlement's researchers; acting as the central knowledge hub who records all findings.
While the tribe tends to be quite close-knit, there are some bonds that are closer than others. For instance, Jell can be seen together with Khall, who is both a researcher and crafter within the settlement. Working together for such a long time seems to have formed a close relationship.
Being the old man that he is, Jell does require some medical attention every now and again. This made him also relatively close to the resident healer of the tribe, a happy tortle named Xua.

Tortles generally do not wear a lot of clothing of armor, and Jell is not very different in that regard. Except for his shell and scaly hide you cannot see a lot of clothing on his person, except for a purple hat on his head.
One way to clearly identify Jell from quite a distance is the vast collection of tomes, scrolls within a leather contraption on his shell. A lot of his current or recent work is stored in there for quick referencing, which is also useful since Jell is not a spry young tortle anymore. Moving around with a walking cane can only go so fast...
