Mojy Tree

The Mojy Tree is one of the most important living things in the world of Eiros. It features prominently in many myths and religions, including Dučana, Unan, and the Twilight Brotherhood. It goes by many other names, the most common being the Life Tree, a nearly direct translation of its true name. It is believed that the Life Tree is the reason Eiros, and any of its beings and even gods, exist. Many mages take a journey to the tree at least once during their educational period to meditate and feel its power.   Extending miles into the sky, the Life Tree is the largest organism present on the planet of Eiros. It sits atop the Howling Mountain, and its branches stretch so high that their tips cannot be seen from the ground. The tree itself is not a specific kind of tree, such as oak, birch, or pine, but an amalgamation of all the known species. Its bark swirls with different colors, and its leaves seem to change types depending on the angle one looks at them. It bears no fruit, though some scholars believe that it may have done so before the Collapse.   The most important part of the tree is its roots. Its root system used to stretch across the entire planet, bringing mojy, life and magic, to the world. Unfortunately, the greed of humans was so great that its roots farther out than Kima withered and crumbled, dead. Now, it is limited to Kima, the only reason that Kima is still as magically and ecologically potent as it is, while other continents are not so lucky. Even Kima is not immune to greed and destruction, however, as there are parts of the continent where magic has been so depleted from the land as to create aleksium deposits. These parts of the land are permanently dead. No life grows, no magic flows, and the roots are withered and unusable. The roots can also be used to travel across Kima via teleportation, though it is impossible to travel to any withered spots.   The Council of Magistry keeps a watchful eye on the Life Tree. It's sturdy and nearly impossible to damage physically, but the Council regulates the use of magic specifically to prevent overuse, the one thing that can harm the tree.
