Old Brighwe
Once the oldest town in the Lumarien Plains, now a burnt and rotting stain on the golden prairies, Old Brighwe was a main trading checkpoint between the Katzan Cape and Ephemere. It was primarily populated by elderly Lumariens who could no longer travel with their clans, and residents from other provinces that moved to Lumarien for various reasons. In 529 N.D., the town was sacked by Doriathilan raiders and basically wiped off the map. This led to the stationing of warriors and mages in Lumarien towns and with clans, and pressure on the Council of Magistry to reopen the Lumarien Conservatory of Magic in order to provide mages.
Demographics
As Lumarien is largely populated by Mojčka, so too was Old Brighwe. While the largest percentage of its residents were elderly or non-Lumarien, a few clan members who decided that the nomadic life wasn't for them also settled there. Many residents referred to Old Brighwe as their clan instead, and the culture remained similar to that of the nomads.
Government
Similar to Lumarien clans, Lumarien towns are run by the eldest and most experienced members of the clan. There is typically one Elder, the most respected and usually oldest adult in the clan. This position is not based on lineage, but on the will of the people. All other adults who've completed their Pilgrimage also get a say in town matters.
Infrastructure
Like other Lumarien towns, Old Brighwe's buildings were primarily built from logs, dirt, stone, and sandstone. Log buildings were more rare than the latter two, and wood was often sourced from forests near the Širik Mountains or along the coast of Lake Brighwe. The town, being the largest and oldest in Lumarien, was also outfitted with utilities like a watermill and a windmill, a community gathering building, a trading post, and a basic guild outpost. Due to the rocky soil and cold, winter climate, not a lot of crops thrive in Lumarien. Able-bodied residents typically hunted, worked as travel guides, or grew the few crops that could survive the winter in order to make their living.
