BSG | Event 0027 - Undercutting
General Summary
I wanted to speak to you today about a delicate matter, Your Most August Majesty. It concerns the copper trade.King Calimaco Bladesong:
Ah yes, I'm very familiar with it.Lord Patrician Lu Linky:
King Calimaco Bladesong:Then you wil understand our position. You see, The March doesn't have much in the way of natural resources, but it does have a lot of copper.
The Grandees of the South mostly use it for jewellery, but it's also useful for medicine, would you believe? Not that it matters whi they want it, just that they pay the Barons of the March a lot for it.
Traditionally, we Patricians of the Coast have facilitated this trade, making sure that a fair deal was reached on both sides. Yet now the Grandees of the South buy from the Barons of the March directly!
They're cutting us out of the deal. You can't let them get away with it.
You're right. That's despicable.Lord Patrician Lu Linky:
Indeed! Then you will call The Council together to deel with this?King Calimaco Bladesong:
Very well then.Lord Patrician Lu Linky:
My eternal thanks, Your August Majesty. The Council
Result | Should the crown interfere in the copper trade to protect the Patricians of the Coast's interests? |
---|---|
Nay | Force the Grandees of the South to continue buying copper through the Patricians of the Coast. |
Yea | Allow the free market to sort this one out. |
Nay | Bring the copper trade under the authority of the Monarch rather than the Patricians of the Coast. |
Veto | Ban the sale of copper altogether. |
It turns out that the free market doesn't care all that much about the Patricians of the Coast's woes, and nothing can convince the Barons of the March and the Grandees of the South to stop doing business.
