In House Steel, the Lord and Lady of the house brings up all eligible heirs past the frozen North, into the wastes, there they are headed to a forge built within an active volcano, they are to forge a weapon and something to protect them (sword, shield, mace, helm) and only then may they become true successor to the House.
The only reason why the current Head of house rules is because his family had denied him the opportunity to become a true successor for reasons outside his control. A blessing is disguise for something, none know what had struck down the rest of House Steel, and such the only successor was the one who was not true.
History
House Steel has been a House of disrepute for a long time, bards carried songs of how they are cowards who have never set foot in the arenas or another place of personal combat, in recent times that had changed though the actions of the one member of the House. But when not being ridiculed for their cowardice they forge weapons and armour to be used by those who do head into battle and into personal combat.
The House had created the Ignis forge guild to centralize to control all forges within House Steel land, and to expand outward if ever given the opportunity.
