Celermans

Basic Information

Anatomy

Cranium

The celerman cranium is the most obvious physical difference between them and humans, as it is smaller and the region below the eyes is much narrower. Their jaws are short and they have mostly sharp teeth, with only four molars. The celerman cranium bears an uncommon resemblance to that of a common house cat.

Respiratory System

Celermans have adapted to have incredible endurance. Their lungs are longer than that of humans, (which leads to a slightly longer torso, proportionally), and they have three lungs, rather than two. Furthermore, their nasal passages are lined with small glands that can secrete a fine mist into the air they breathe when they must draw large volumes of air, keeping the air at an optimal humidity.

Circulatory System

Celerman circulation is primarily different from humans in that, in addition to their primary heart (known as the prima cor, there is an auxillary organ called the auxilia cor. This four chambered structure is smaller than the prima cor, and it only pumps when there is a vascular load on the body, assisting with the circulation of the blood supply.

Genetics and Reproduction

Celerman reproduction is similar to that of humans.

Growth Rate & Stages

Celerman maturity and life stages are similar to humans.

Ecology and Habitats

Celermans prefer open grasslands and savanas, which afford them the space they need in which to run.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Though they can be found in a variety of habitats with a variety of habits in modern times, celermans evolved as endurance predators. They are capable of running for extremely long periods of time without tiring, and their anatomy is adapted for it. They are carnivorous and eat meat that they hunt by literally running it to exhaustion.

Behaviour

Celermans live to run. They evolved to run down prey. As they have advanced, many have begun to run simply for pleasure.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

The head and face of a celerman is uncannily similar to a cat's head shape. Short soft hair grows on the bridge of the nose, upward spreading out to cover the whole head as it extends back over the head and tapers at the base of the neck. This hair only grows about an inch in length, so there is no need for celermans to style it in any way. They are otherwise hairless.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Celerman skin is grey, pale white tinged with pink, or light brown. The hair on their heads may be tawny, grey, black, or brown. Their eyes are always gold-green.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Though not as acute as many other creatures, celermans possess some ability to see in dim light and darkness.

Celerman Traits

Ability Score Increase
Your Constitution score increases by one and your Dexterity score increases by two.
Age
Celermans reach adulthood in their teens and live less than a century.
Size
Celermans are between five and six feet in height. Your size is Medium.
Speed
Celermans spend their lives running. Your speed is 40.

Celerman Endurance
You can go up to 48 hours without sleep before needing to make your first check for exhaustion. Subsequent checks still occur at 24-hour intervals. You make all saving throws to avoid exhaustion at advantage.
