Peneimercat

The Peneimercat (pen-ay-MEHR-caht) is the religious leader of the Counting House, which is the Church devoted to the worship of Kisquay.

Appointment

When the previous Peneimercat dies, the Factors of the faith gather at the Grand Temple in Calpi. Each one's assets are measured carefully. The most prosperous of them becomes the new Peneimercat.

Duties

The Peneimercat is responsible for seeing that the faith of Kisquay does not become oppressive. Commerce can be a blessing, but it can also be a chain around the necks of the common folk. It is the duty of the Peneimercat to prevent that. Regratably, due to the competitive culture within the Counting House, many Peneimercats fall short of this duty.

Responsibilities

The Peneimercat is responsible for the following:

  • Appointing Factors of the faith to serve as the lead Wibilbimum of their local temples
  • Protecting and increasing the assets of the Counting House, especially coin
  • Promoting a system of education for merchants and traders
  • Influencing governments to adopt good economic policies
  • Conduct the Divine Services in the Grand Temple on Years' End and Commitment Day

Benefits

The Pemeimercat receives five percent of all revenue collected by the Counting House as their personal income, which they can pass on to their heirs.
