Overlord Aelzan
Overlord of Korrisia (a.k.a. Hammer of Calemdar, Lord Ironwatcher)
Overlord Aelzan is the most powerful single figure in the Material Plane of Korrisia to current date. The supreme executive power in the Korrisian Empire, Aelzan's word is law, and all bend the knee to the Overlord's throne. The being who would become the Overlord rose to prominence in the Calemdarian Senate, quickly becoming one of the most popular political figures in the Republic. Aelzan would enjoy victory over the sitting Chancellor and become the Head of Government in the Republic. After several months, Aelzan was able to reform most laws granting the Chancellor powers that none could check. After the violent death of the Skywatchers and of so many armies of the sovereign nations of Korrisia, Aelzan launched a worldwide campaign to conquer all other kingdoms and nations.
Within only a few short years, the Overlord was able to force all nations to bend the knee, and reformed Calemdar into the Korrisian Empire, establishing the Overlord's Laws across all four corners of the globe.

Identifying Characteristics
This is a major topic of discussion among citizens and officials of the Empire. As so few have claimed to met the Overlord, and even fewer actually having the experience, it's difficult to tell what is the truth and what is a lie. Some believe that Aelzan appears to those in the form most comfortable, a dear friend or colleague. Others believe that Aelzan shapeshifts in order to remain anonymous, wandering throughout the Empire and changing forms so that no assassin or enemy could ever realize the Overlord's presence.
Some believe that Aelzan is a godlike man, standing 8 feet tall clad in golden armor, wielding a warhammer like the progenitor deity Garenthar. Others believe that Aelzan is a sickly being, who cannot leave the throne or even the bed, being forced to send all orders and requests through spellcasting or traditional letters. Those who are bold enough to speak of it believe Aelzan is a beautiful woman of godlike creation, and that she sits in her harems and bathhouses enjoying the presence of all the beautiful mortal races as her playthings, those that speak like this are often quickly disciplined.
Commoners feel Aelzan is an everyman, a common individual who was just intelligent and lucky, played the game well and rose to power. As for the Edicts, commoners would argue that Aelzan is protected by one or more of the Prime Deities, perhaps the Overlord is in possession of a mystical artifact that grants such power. Regardless, no one can agree or confirm the physical identity of their Overlord.

Personal history
Little is known about Lord Aelzan before the coming of the Iron Watchers in the Senate of Calemdar. Numerous individuals including scholars, political opponents, journalists, simply intrigued individuals, and even some adventurers have worked to try and unmask the history of Lord Aelzan, and to understand the future impact that will be had on the world by Aelzan's presence. What is known by those who have interacted with Aelzan, or founding members of the Iron Watchers, is that Aelzan is revered in magical and martial ability. Being a faction leader, Aelzan has a sizeable retinue of Calemdarian soldiers from all of the Senators and lords in Calemdar have pledged.
Lord Aelzan is a political powerhouse during their rise in the Calemdarian Senate. The leader of a particularly vicious militant sect, Aelzan seeks to return Calemdar to its rightful place as the superpower of Korrisia, and to enforce the peace of the entire world. Aelzan comes from seemingly nothing, many political opponents have sought dirt or utilized intrigue to blackmail or force Aelzan to do their bidding, but all have come up short or have oddly disappeared.
It is believed that Aelzan is not the individual's original name, and that Aelzan appeared out of thin air. Some speculate to hide a long and grizzled past, others believe it was seen as a fresh start, and a few believe it is to protect friends and family, of which Aelzan seemingly has none. Lord Aelzan is the newest political opponent to the current sitting Lord Chancellor, Goryn Luidhack, and is seen as his antithesis, instead of peace talks and staying out of all foreign matters, Aelzan believes that Calemdar should be the primary force of Korrisia and enforce peace, but also hold all peoples of the world under a set of universal laws. These laws would restrict many freedoms that are uncontrolled to this day. The primary platform of Lord Aelzan is to have state-controlled and managed spellcasters, the College of Calemdar has operated free for far too long, and spellcasters are the source of some of the worst atrocities in Korrisian History. Aelzan also believes that the antiquated laws and codes of some of the older kingdoms must be wiped away. Finally, the rampant warfare, backstabbing, and civil strife that most nations face must be brought to heel. The Thronebreaker of Arcanum should be executed immediately, the kingdoms of Drang and Keoland should be dissolved and reconstructed.
Aelzan is a force to be reckoned with, and many perceive that the faction in the senate, which many have seen to call them the "Iron Watchers" will continue to grow as several highly influential and charismatic senators have already broken ranks. Aelzan has eyes for the chair of Lord Chancellor, but there are those who fear that Aelzan is the next incarnation of Emperor Calemdar the Bloodspiller, others believe that Aelzan brings the necessary force of will to keep the world under control.
What is most peculiar about Lord Aelzan, is that almost no one can actually describe Aelzan's physical appearance. Lord Aelzan was the only senator that was never present, but always votes either by proxy, drafted and sealed letter, or via magical means. Those in the Iron Watchers claim it is because Aelzan has so many political opponents, there is a fear of assassination attempts, other Iron Watchers cackle at the idea, stating that Aelzan is unbeatable on the battlefield and could subdue any enemy, and that Aelzan simply doesn't trouble themselves with the matters of others, and is constantly working on other things.
Only a small few have claimed to meet with Lord Aelzan in person, but they refuse to speak of the experience, simply stating that to be in Aelzan's presence is inspiring, and life altering.
In most recent history, Lord Aelzan had become the Chancellor of Calemdar, of which the Senate attempted to halt. Aelzan had already maneuvered the right pieces into place to invalidate the Senate's ruling, most generals and land-holding nobles had already pledged allegiance to their new Chancellor. Aelzan's rise to power would be darkened by the revelation that the Cult of the Bloody Daggers, the original order loyal to Kormund and his Underlords, had returned. Aelzan sent emissaries to assist the other Korrisian nations in their defense against such a vicious foe. Led by the Skywatchers, a coalition army marched on Old Calemdar to face the Cult, their vile servants, and of course to halt the awakening of the Underlord imprisoned under the old College, Rak Tulkhesh. After a titanic battle between mortal and fiend, Rak Tulkhesh emerged from his prison, touting and bragging about his vicious killing of the great heroes of the age, and presented Aelzan's generals with their mangled corpses, before slaughtering all forces in the coalition army.
In secret, Aelzan had sent a sizeable force to the Northern Territories to conquer each city and province, bringing them into the Republic's fold. Undaunted by the disappearance of the Democratic Process (as the senate had been arrested for treason) Aelzan was able to annex all lands to the north. After Rak Tulkhesh's disappearance, Aelzan made the move to declare all democratic aspects of Calemdar illegal, and become the Emperor of the newly created Northern Empire. Aezlan launched a global assault against the other nations of the world, and within six short years all had been conquered. The Northern Empire reformed once more into the Korrisian Empire, and Aelzan was named Overlord of Korrisia.
Some believe Aelzan actually descends from the Eldorians, in that Aelzan's magical prowess is far beyond the current understanding of all other magical scholars. It would explain the mental acuity, strategic prowess, and political shrewdness that has been shown all throughout Aelzan's existence. Many believe the Edicts that Aelzan is capable of reminiscent of the First Emperor's declarations, stating that the words that burned all of Eldoria to be the First Emperor's last Edict. Regardless, Aelzan has forever changed the face of Korrisia (literally and figuratively), and it's vastly unknown if the world will continue to stand under one banner, or if Aelzan's rule will come to an end, many wish it so, others feel that Aelzan is the savior of all mortal races.
