Icewall Castle

Two hundred miles south of the northern border of Icereach lies Icewall Castle. The castle lies at the peak of a monstrous cliff, hundreds of feet above the glacier. One of the main features of the castle is a huge watchtower, which rises two hundred feet above the structure, and serves as a lookout over a vast area of Icereach.

The entrance towards Icewall Castle is done via scaling a vertical crevasse in the ice, which leads upwards towards the castle courtyard. Prior to reaching the courtyard is an area known as the "Secret Way", which is a series of caves that led to a treasure cave. Other than this cave, the castle is divided between the Lower Reach and the Upper Reach.

The Upper Reach contains the remaining parts of the original castle, which chiefly comprise of the courtyard and surviving buildings. Whereas the Lower Reach is a series of ice and stone carved tunnels that were either naturally formed by ice movements or created by the denizens of the castle in the Age of Despair.

Architecture

Secret Cave

The chill blue walls of the narrow ice cave open into a large chamber. The chamber has bluish, clear walls and floors, but the wall to the left held a darkness of some sort — a solidity that is different from the pure translucence of the ice. A reflection of the torchlight hinted of gleaming gold buried in the ice. What at first appears to be a pile of gold coins was revealed as a coat of gleaming scales on a serpentine body of incredible size. These are the perfectly preserved remains of a Knight of Solamnia and his Golden Dragon mount from the time of the Third Dragonwar. The rider held a broken dragonlance.

The Chamber of Dragon Highlord Feal-Thas

The Chamber of the Dragon Highlord is one of the few original structures remaining of Icewall Castle. After leaving the Tower of Wayreth, Feal-Thas returned to Icereach and lived at the castle. It is part of the newly added modest additions. Located in the Upper Reach, along the eastern wall of the courtyard, lies this richly decorated chamber, which was formerly the bedroom used by the Highlord of the White Dragonarmy. The entrance to the room is protected by a trap, which when activated, causes a section of the floor to drop away and send would-be thieves and assassins plummeting down to the Lower Reach.

Inside the chamber, a large stone fireplace sits along one wall. Thick furs cover the wall and floor, and a large bed resides in one corner. A small table sits in the centre of the room and leading off from the bedroom is a small library. The library bears a stone hearth, and possesses several wooden tables and chairs, and a number of shelves with a series of tomes.

Remorhaz Room

This high-ceilinged chamber is dominated by a spray of water showering from an overhead hole into a clear pool at the west end of the room. A stream follows the wall of the room to exit through a grate next to the door.

This room was the home of a savage monster that was kept here for prisoner disposal. The door is of heavy wood, solidly reinforced with iron bands and barred on the outside. The beast is too big to leave the room by any of the exits, but it could burrow its way through if it were so inclined. It was a Remorhaz, slain by Alphy during the our parties raid of the castle. It's decapitated and dissected body remains in this room.

Egg Room

In the Lower Reach of Icewall Castle, lies a small chamber that sits at the northeastern end of the Icicle Room. The chamber is a large dead end cave and was once used as the storehouse for white dragon eggs. There were 3 juvenille white dragons guarding the eggs.

After the death of Diesa, a Hero of the Lance, at the hands of the juvelline white dragons, the hammer of Kharas was lost here. The party fled before it was able to be recovered. Alphy did relay this to the Mages of Cnidaria and recommended they send someone to recover it, however the hammers fate is ultimately unknown.

Dragon's Dinner Room

The walls of this cavern were lined with people who would appear to be sleeping if it weren’t for the frigid whiteness of their skin and the touch of frost that coats them. Warriors dressed in heavy furs, and refugees from the Tarsian plain all lie together here frozen in death.

These were the unfortunate victims of an ancient white dragon, brought here and stored for future hungry moments. Some of the warriors of the Ice Folk. These are the men who perished on the harbor wall during the battle.

Ancient White Dragon Lair

In the Lower Reach of Icewall Castle, at the northwestern part of the area lies a large cave, which was formerly the lair of an ancient white dragon. The cave was where the dragon stored her treasure hoard and on the northern fringe of the lair is a large escape tunnel, that the white dragon used for a rapid escape from Icewall Castle. The dragon was attacked by our party, and ultimately decapitated by Alphy as she attempted to flee. Her body remains here, left undisturbed.

There was an impressive pile of gold, jewels, and strange glowing devices. On the near side of the pile was a clear crystal orb. At the far end of the cave, a waterfall cascaded out of a crack in the wall that acted as an escape route. Feal-Thas stored the white dragon orb in this lair, where it was taken by Alphy after he slayed the dragon.
